Is Medicare and Health Care Reform the Same?

An editor of an east coast news paper stated recently that republicans are being hypocrites for supporting medicare but not the new health care reform.  Thats basically saying, "hey, aren't all those republicans heartless?"  I don't think there's many people left that have a problem helping people that are down on their luck or have kids and can't afford health care.  That's a lot different than nationalizing the entire health care industry though.  Has anyone out there really read the new health care reform bill?  If you are interested, here is a link to actually read the whole thing ( http://www.opencongress.org/bill/111-h3200/show) and once you read it, you'll probably understand why every republican in the senate is rejecting it.  It is going to seriously hurt so many industries in this country that layoffs are going to sky rocket.  We could very realistically see the first recession due to the health care industry.  Lets not forget, also, that this would most likely seriously deter quite a few very talented people from practicing medicine in all sorts of different fields.  This bill could quite possibly limit how much doctors can make, indirectly, and take quite a bit of motivation out of joining the profession.  God forbid that causes a shortage of professionals in the medical field, even more so than we already have.  I really believe that we must have a lot of people in the government now days that have minimal real world experience.  They think everyone is an idealist.  Everyone is going to pick their profession based on how they can best serve society.  The fact is, people are in pursuit of riches so they can live their dreams, for the majority, and as much as socialised medicine sounds good in theory, it would probably seriously effect the quality of service that is available in the country.  There is a reason the government can do it so much cheaper than private business can.  Everyone needs to remember one thing, something that has been known to make or break companies, countries, and even entire civilizations...you get what you pay for.
